Diet and Fertility

Step 1:

Make sure you are drinking sufficient water.  This is so essential - the cells in your body need water to function most efficiently transporting nutrients to the areas which need them and removing the toxins and byproducts of metabolism.  As a biochemist I have studied this in immense detail and can't emphasise enough how important it is to drink sufficient good quality water.

But it is not just any water - unfortunately many homes do not have good drinking water - tap water can be contaminated with heavy metals, synthetic hormones from the contraceptive pill, and other nasties - so ideally an alkaline mineral water stored in glass bottles is the best.  The next best is filtered tap water stored in glass bottles.  I am emphasising the use of glass for storing water as plastic bottles can leach chemicals into the water making it unhealthy to drink.  This is particularly true if the plastic gets hot for example when left in a car during the summer.

So how to get enough water into your body during the day - ideally measure out 2litres of water at the start of the day into a bottle or jug and keep drinking it during the day and then you will have a good record of how much you are drinking.  Other drinks which are good are herbal teas and diluted fresh fruit juices - particularly those which have alkalising effect e.g. apple and cherry juice.

Drinks to avoid:

Cola, coffee, any caffeinated drinks, black tea, alcoholic drinks
